The Albuquerque Publishing Company (APC) needed an identity for their campus-wide safety campaign. The familiar and ubiquitous "APC" initials were used for the memorable slogan. The contrasting colors were designed to stand out from the lulling, drab gray yet dangerous press environment. In areas frequented by employees this signage was accompanied by a poster revealing how many days had passed without an accident, thus reminding employees of the benefit of their diligence for themselves and for their coworkers.
With most of the production area being white and gray, with semi-reflective floors, as well as the constant drone of the machines creating a lulling effect similar to that of pink or Brownian noise, the signage contrasts with the environment.
